Each January a committee from the American Library Association (ALA) selects the official Newbery Award and Honor books for "the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children published in English in the United States during the preceding year." Our book club will read and suggest books we think deserve this award (based on the Newbery criteria) and then, in January, vote for our pick for the Bayside Mock Newbery award.
Fantasy lovers will really like this one!!! The constant action and suspense make it hard to put down. The plot has lots of twists but is resolved in a gratifying way. I hope there is a sequel because I loved the characters.
ReplyDeleteI think it might be too dark for a Newbery but I would highly recommend it to grades 6 up.
I really think this book deserves to be a New Berry book because it is very exciting and lots of people will love it. It is a fiction and action book people of all ages will love it. It also is a cliffhanger especially the last paragraph of the book and I really hope that there is a second book.
ReplyDeletedarkwood is the most dramaticly best book of all time. I've read it 5 times in 1 day. this totaly should have been a newbery.
