I read Hunger Games and I am looking forward to reading Catching Fire. Hunger Games was a fantastic book.
ReplyDeleteWow!!! Even better than The Hunger Games! I couldn't put this down, literally. I think it is too old (a young adult book) for Newbery but is a sure winner for fantasy fans!
ReplyDeleteIt was amazing! There were so many surprises I couldn't predict most of it! The plot was really interesting; I wish it came out before school started so I could have finished it uninterrupted. I really like the "he loves me/he loves me not/I love him/I don't love him" thing with Peeta, Gale, and Katniss. It brings up good topics for teenagers.
ReplyDeleteThis was a great book, and it has the most amount of comments. Katie, Amy and Ms. Procell this is obviously Anna. I thought that it had action, love, suspense, and even question of character. It brought up some good issues, but I agree with you guys, it might be a little old. I think that that is part of why it is so good. It's full of lots of twists- its not a predictable book and it had me reading through classes it was so good (oooops!)
ReplyDeleteAnna - I won't tell! I would have been reading it during classes too except I read it on a Sunday. Ms. E. is starting it tonight - we'll have to hear from her too!
ReplyDeleteI finally got a copy!!! I heard everyone talking about it and now I finished it. It would be too old for the Newberry and I don't think you could jump right into it before reading Hunger Games. I didn't like the cliffhanger ending because that's all I'm thinking about right now...The blood rain was so disgusting. Anyway, I really liked it and I can't wait for the third book to come out!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if I mentioned it, but Pita is a type of bread, so the name Peeta fits well since he's a baker. The same with Gale (a gale in a storm/wind), Rue (to wish that (something) had never been done, taken place, etc, to feel sorrow over; repent of; regret bitterly according to dictionary.com), Primrose (like a prim rose or a pale yellow flower), and Effie Trinket(a trinket is a thing with little value).
ReplyDeleteSupposedly the next one is coming out next fall, probably October 1st again.
I love this series, and cannot wait for the third. While the first book was great at getting attention with a very exciting plot line, Catching Fire has added real substance to the series. (Should Katniss fulfill her role as the mockingjay or should she just try to save her family? How difficult is it to self-sacrifice?) I cannot wait to find out what happens next!
ReplyDeleteI loved catching fire!!! At some points I literally had to set it down because i was reading it so fast i couldn't take in all the information! But a must read for anyone who loved The Hunger Games.
ReplyDeleteI loved this book!!! It had a little bit of everthing and is so addicting to read. I couldn't stop. I love ALL the charactors and the setting. I can't wait for #3.
