Each January a committee from the American Library Association (ALA) selects the official Newbery Award and Honor books for "the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children published in English in the United States during the preceding year." Our book club will read and suggest books we think deserve this award (based on the Newbery criteria) and then, in January, vote for our pick for the Bayside Mock Newbery award.
I read this book, but honestly I didn't think it was all that great, it was kinda funny and heartwarming at the end, but other than that is wasn't that great... i read it cuz it was a related to hoot and flush
ReplyDeleteI liked this book. I thought it was a little weird, but I read it because I liked the author.
ReplyDeleteThis was a really good book. it was so good i couldn't put it down!!! I hope it wins this year it totally deserves it.
ReplyDeleteAnother great book by Carl Hiaasen. I like how he always encorporates an environmental issue into his book. I like the role of the teacher and the mystery surrounding her.
ReplyDeleteI thought this book as a whole was good, but the writing quality might have been a little lacking. It was pretty similar to Hoot (characters save endangered animal and defeat bad companies trying to destroy wildlife). I don't think it would qualify for a Newberry but it was still a good book!
